Sketch - Do Something with a Blundstone Fundraiser

Watch the video

Christina Zeidler invited me to check out this really excellent event that Sketch is organizing. This is their third year doing this - Blundstone donates boots and artists are recruited to decorate them - an auction is held in October where boots are sold off to the highest bidder and the proceeds go to Sketch.

I have to say that when I walked into Sketch for the first time, I was so impressed by how vibrant and energetic the space was. Tons of folks making all kinds of different art. They have silkscreening, woodshop, photography and video as well as more traditional mediums like painting. You can go to their website for more information.

Support Sketch - make a donation of time, art supplies or anything else on this list

When I saw you cutting up the stuffed animals, I cringed. It was horrifying to see you cut the eyes out of those teddy bears.

The final result was TOTALLY worth it, though! Those little books were adorable!!

Great Work!

i wasn't sure what you were planning while you were cutting up the teddy bear faces (i cringed too), but the transformed boots you made are very cool!

That seems like a really creative way to raise funds for a worthy project...interesting post.

Also, nice job with decorating those boots!

This is amazing!! Thanks for continually showing us the coolest, most relevant art stuff. I don't know where you get all the connections, but please don't stop!

I love it - everything about it. Great storytelling, great story, great art, great community consciousness.

Interesting concept. I, too, was traumatized while watching all those stuffed animals get cut up. But the shoes were really cute when they were finished.

It would be interesting to see what people might do with shirts, blouses, pants, even bras and underwear.
